About me

My name is Carolina, I was born in Colombia but I live in Spain with my husband and my two children for more than a decade. Since always I have opted for crafts, surely it comes me from my family, because my mother is a dressmaker and my father was a carpenter. It is a hobby shared by my children, especially my youngest daughter. I love toys and wooden ornaments, especially those with a vintage look, but if I have to say which are my favourites, are the Christmas tree ornaments.

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, so much so that it was the date that Diego and I chose to get married and just during a trip to Denmark for Christmas, being between Christmas markets, tipsy with the delicious taste of the glög ... I decided begin with this family project, a craft workshop in the dining room of my house.

The idea arises during that trip to Denmark visiting in the city of Odense the house where Hans Christian Andersen was born, the Danish writer and poet, famous for his fairy tales, among them "the steadfast tin soldier" (Den Standhaftige Tinsoldat, 1838), so I wanted to find a souvenir and ended up in a small antique shop where I found a little wooden figure of the tin soldier but I could not find the ballerina to have the couple in this beautiful story; Then I came home with the idea of ​​making the ballerina for my tin soldier by myself and hang them together on my Christmas tree.

As a curious fact about the name I have chosen, "Almi", I will tell you that I didn’t have to think much about it and it came from the first letters of the names of my children: Alejandro and Michelle and whose were totally agreed because it almost seems that says soul (“alma” in Spanish) that is what they say, that the wooden figures almost seem to have.

I spend countless hours of the day unleashing my imagination and creating unique figures, made with all my love, that I trust you can perceive, I care about every detail on it and that is why I make it with special care and I would love it to be part of a little corner of your life and that you like as much as I do.
